What the Health Care Protests Are Really About

Whether they're Astroturf, setups, or real (and I know they're real because I know some of the people that attend these protests, and they are NOT going to be told what to do by a lobbying group or an insurance company), the health care protests are not about angry white racists losing control of their country. It's not even really about going back to the Constitution.

It's a middle-class taxpayer revolt.

What's being heard (from the Democrats and Obama) by the middle class is this:

"Even though you currently have access to health care, and probably have health insurance, there are a lot of people out there who don't. So instead of doing something to help the people who don't have health insurance (teach them how to be good consumers, high-deductible accounts, help them find jobs, teach THEM to be more healthy), we're going to change the health care system of the ENTIRE country. Oh, and you're going to foot the bill, because the people who don't have health insurance don't have it because they can't afford it anyway."

From welfare to food stamps to Head Start to every other social program- the Middle Class has been stuck with the bill on nearly everything in the US, while reaping none of the benefits. Those social programs don't impact their daily lives. Health care will, though.

This IS about health care and government control, but in a much larger sense, it is the culmination of years and years of footing the bill for the 1/2 of country that doesn't pay taxes, yet "enjoy" all the government programs.

Stuck in the middle, and had enough...I'm with ya.
